AlGhad reports today (Arabic link) that a teacher in Madaba has punished a student by extinguishing a cigarette on his back (because he asked to go to the bathroom). The matter is now in hands of the polices and the Ministry of Education is awaiting an official report on the incident.
Another story about a health study conducted in Jordan in 2005, shows that 60% of Jordanian children under the age of 14 are exposed to passive smoking.
I say, to hell with kids! Let’s burn them and smoke them out. Adults, faced with their difficult and depressing reality have a RIGHT to ‘burn their hardships away’ (lianno hal 3eesheh khara, Da7′en 3aleiha).
On a more positive note I saw this ad for a company called I Quit Smoking, Jordan, in the papers today. Their site is still under construction. I don’t know what this company will sell/do. Does anyone?
