Friends around the world react

From emails I received over the past 18 hours..

“I was disturbed by the callousness of the attacks. Most
of the dead are, after all, Jordanians. This tells us
something about the attackers: they wish to terrorize local
populations as well. This has been a pattern in their
(fundamentalists) indiscriminate deadly zealotry since the
beginning (for e.g. the embassy bombings in Africa in 1998,
where most of the dead where local africans).
Their ideology is phantasmagoric which, mixed with religious
zealotry, makes for a deadly witch’s brew. It is deeply
irrational which is why they can kill fellow citizens and
believers in cold blood.”
Haitham, Chicago

“I just heard the terrible news. I’m so sorry, both for the lives lost
and for the difficulty the aftermath is going to represent for Jordan as
a nation. My prayers are with all of you and your families – I hope, if
you have a moment, you’ll drop a line to let me know that you and your
families are alright.”
Ethan, US

“Do you think the bombing of the wedding party is going to be the tragic means of finally ending some of the denial?”
Pam, Amman

“... courage people … , we are speaking about it in the office … / wir fühlen mit euch …”
Annette, Frankfurt

“I don’t know what to say – I lack the words to describe my feelings.”
Daniel, Barcelona
